Japanese individual under suspicion for commissioning the murders of two countrymen in Manila, Philippines.
Japanese National Suspected of Ordering Fatal Shootings in Manila
A Japanese national living in Japan is suspected of ordering the fatal shootings of two Japanese men in Manila last week. The motive behind the murders is believed to be a financial dispute involving the victims.
The victims, Hideaki Satori (53) and Akinobu Nakayama (41), were shot on August 15 shortly after exiting a taxi near their hotel in Manila. Two Filipino brothers, Albert Manabat (50) and Abel Manabat (62), were arrested in connection with the shootings.
Abel Manabat, a 62-year-old tour guide, was allegedly asked to kill the two Japanese men. He had previously driven the Japanese mastermind during a trip to the Philippines. Albert Manabat, aged 50, is suspected of carrying out the shootings.
The mastermind, who is not publicly named, is thought to have hired the Philippine suspects and paid them a reward of about 9 million pesos (~23 million yen), with an initial payment of 10,000 pesos.
Tokyo Metropolitan Police have launched a task force to investigate the case and are cooperating with Philippine authorities using extraterritorial legal provisions. No public identification or further details about this Japanese suspect have been released as of the latest reports.
The suspects, Albert Manabat and Abel Manabat, are Philippine nationals. The shootings resulted in the death of the two Japanese men. The suspects were arrested on Monday due to financial troubles between them and the victims.
