Crisis in Middle East: Japan Moves to Secure Safety of Japanese Citizens in Israel and Iran
Japan readies to evacuate its citizens from Iran and Israel
With the escalating tension in the Middle East, the Japanese administration is making strides to safeguard its citizens in Israel and Iran. Speaking on the matter, Japanese government spokesman Yoshimasa Hayashi mentioned the presence of military aircraft in Djibouti.
So far, the Japanese embassies in these countries have been preparing to transport their citizens to neighboring nations via buses. These aircraft stand ready to respond promptly if there's a need to evacuate Japanese citizens urgently. As of now, it's estimated that about 1,000 Japanese individuals reside in Israel, and roughly 280 in Iran.
Last week, Israel took a significant action by bombing Iran's nuclear facilities and military installations, resulting in the death of several high-ranking military officials. Their stated aim was to destroy Iran's nuclear program. In response, Iran retaliated with rocket and drone attacks targeting Israel.
[Enrichment: Amidst this volatile situation, Japan has reportedly evacuated a total of 87 individuals, including both Japanese nationals and foreign family members. Of these, 66 departed from Tehran to Baku, Azerbaijan, while 21 left Tel Aviv and reached Amman, Jordan. As of now, approximately 220 Japanese nationals remain in Iran, and about 1,000 are still in Israel. The Japanese government plans to dispatch two Self-Defense Forces aircraft to its base in Djibouti, with the intention of facilitating further evacuations should airports reopen in Iran and Israel.][1][2]
[Enrichment: Japan has issued a travel advisory warning all its nationals to evacuate Iran immediately and avoid all travel due to the rising danger. The government's efforts reflect their commitment to securing the safety of Japanese citizens amid increasing threats in the Middle East.][3]
