Janik Haberer: Suitable for numerous tasks, yet not a universal fit for all feminine roles
In the upcoming game between 1. FC Union Berlin and Eintracht Frankfurt, scheduled for Sunday at 3:15 PM, coach Steffen Baumgart may make some changes to his lineup.
Janik Haberer, often referred to as 'Mr. Reliable' and a player for 1. FC Union Berlin for four seasons, could be one of the key players returning to the field. Haberer, who has been a regular starter for the team under coach Urs Fischer, was a missing piece in the 2:4 loss against TSG Hoffenheim due to Baumgart's bold lineup with three strikers. Although Haberer and vice-captain Rani Khedira weren't the main culprits, Baumgart may adjust the lineup this weekend to improve defensive stability.
Haberer's last goal for 1. FC Union Berlin was a crucial one, scored in a must-win game against SC Freiburg on May 18, 2024, securing the team's place in the Bundesliga. Haberer has also shown his scoring potential, having scored a brace in his first season with the team in a 2:0 home win against Borussia Dortmund.
Another player set to return is Diogo Leite, who has been out of action due to a red card suspension. Leite, who has brought in good performances over the last three years and is trusted by the team, is being considered for a spot in the defensive midfield. Coach Baumgart may opt for Leite in the defensive midfield, especially as young players like Tom Rothe and Leopold Querfeld have made some errors, requiring more reliability in the defence.
The team is glad to have Leite back in full training, with team official Dirk Zingler expressing positivity about his return, stating that he has quality and is a valuable asset to the team.
Meanwhile, Alex Král, who surprised in the preseason and has pushed his way back into the picture after a loan spell at Espanyol Barcelona last season, is a potential candidate for a third spot in midfield due to Andrés Schafer's injury. Aljoscha Kemlein, who gained valuable experience and confidence with the German U21 national team, is also being considered for a spot in the midfield.
Janik Haberer, in a recent press conference, expressed his belief in 1. FC Union Berlin's ability to win against Eintracht Frankfurt, recalling last season's 2:1 win. The team is looking forward to having Diogo Leite back, as his return will provide a boost to the defence.
As the game approaches, fans and supporters of 1. FC Union Berlin are eagerly anticipating the return of key players and the potential changes in the lineup, hoping for a strong performance and a much-needed win against Eintracht Frankfurt.
