"Jane's Addiction's life comes to a crushing end, according to Dave Navarro; no more performances expected."
Guess What? The glorious era of Jane's Addiction might just be history after Dave Navarro's recent announcement. In an interview with Guitar Player, he spills the beans, stating that he'll never reunite with the band again.
Navarro's return to the band in 2024, after recovery from long-COVID, was a promising comeback. Yet, it seems the end was nearer than we thought. Aaltercation with band mate Perry Farrell during a show in Boston on September 13th marked the end of the road for Jane's Addiction. The remaining tour dates were promptly cancelled.
Just days before the incident, there was a glimmer of hope as Eric Avery hinted at potentially new Jane's Addiction music. Apparently, the rest of the band is now recording without Navarro, raising intriguing speculations about a possible PRS involved.
The band's guitar tech has shed light on the reasons behind Farrell's aggression during the show, while Farrell's wife has shared his perspective on the altercation. She commends Navarro's handling of the situation.
Navarro himself has now spoken up about the fateful night that turned sour for Jane's Addiction.
"Sure, there were some top-notch gigs on this last run", Navarro shares, "but there's one that I definitely won't miss - no hugs or insults intended. I prefer to remember the good times when it was just the four of us, jamming with some fancy lighting and unleashing experimental jams never explored by the band before."
He further adds, "I gotta be vague because there are other parties involved. The situation is still raw and unresolved. An incident erupted onstage, ruining all the hard work, dedication, and countless hours we spent writing, rehearsing and touring together. The gig ended Jane's Addiction, once and for all."
He confesses that the period before the ill-fated gig in Boston, when they were over in Europe, was a smoother sail. "Everything was harmonious, no ego clashes. We were just crafting great music, just like in the good old days." Navarro continues, "The fateful gig on September 13th in Boston, however, put an end to all that. It's not a glowing memory, and I think that's a fair assessment."
So, it looks like the road for Jane's Addiction has come to a screeching halt, and there's little chance of the band ever getting back together. Life sure throws some curve balls, doesn't it?
- Navarro's band mate, Perry Farrell, was using a Gibson Les Paul during their performances, showcasing his preference for that particular electric guitar.
- Despite the disagreement, Navarro reveals a fondness for the music they created together, comparing it to the experimental jams played on his Gibson guitar and an amp, essential components of his electric guitar setup.
- The band's guitar tech, who had been a key facilitator in preparing the PRS guitars for their performances, provided an account of the reasons leading to the altercation between Navarro and Farrell.
- Despite the unfortunate turn of events, Navarro's wife commends Navarro's handling of the situation, reiterating the positive impact of music and entertainment on their lives.
- In the aftermath of the incident, Navarro is left with a bitter memory, marking the end of an era with Jane's Addiction, and now looks forward to exploring new techniques and music outside the band.
