Ahead of International Matches: Leweling Misses VfB's Game in Augsburg Too - Jamie Leweling's injury casts doubt on Germany's World Cup prep plans

Jamie Leweling has been one of the Bundesliga's standout players this season. The Stuttgart winger has scored five goals and delivered six assists since January, earning praise for his best performances yet. However, his recent absence due to muscle trouble now raises questions over his availability for Germany's upcoming World Cup warm-up matches.

Leweling sat out Stuttgart's trip to Augsburg last weekend because of muscular issues. The club confirmed he will miss the return fixture against FC Augsburg as well, leaving his fitness in doubt.

Meanwhile, national team coach Julian Nagelsmann has called up players for a training camp in Herzogenaurach starting Monday. Germany will face Switzerland and Ghana in preparation for the World Cup. Yet it remains uncertain whether Leweling will join the squad in Franconia or recover in time for the internationals.

His form this season had made him a strong candidate for selection. With five goals and four open-play assists—the highest in the league—he had become a key figure for Stuttgart before injury struck.

Stuttgart must now cope without their in-form winger for another match. For Germany, the decision on Leweling's inclusion will depend on his recovery in the coming days. His absence would remove one of the Bundesliga's most creative players from Nagelsmann's plans for the World Cup build-up.
