Amazon MGM Studios is set to make its first major foray into the James Bond franchise with the production of the upcoming 007 film. While no official confirmation has been made about the lead actor, Aaron Taylor-Johnson is the most strongly linked candidate to step into the iconic tuxedo of Agent 007.

Reports suggest that Eon Productions has sent a contract for the role to Taylor-Johnson, and the formal offer is awaiting his response. If he accepts, he will join an illustrious lineage of actors who have portrayed the British secret agent.

Steven Knight, the creator of the cult series "Peaky Blinders" and the writer of historical dramas such as "Dirty Pretty Things" and "Eastern Promises," has been tapped to helm the script for the new Bond film. Knight's involvement signals a new creative direction for the franchise.

Denis Villeneuve, known for his work on critically acclaimed films like "Blade Runner 2049" and "Arrival," will direct the film and serve as an executive producer. Tanya Lapointe will also serve as an executive producer for the project.

The new James Bond film is scheduled for a 2028 release. In the meantime, fans can look forward to the animated series "The Mitchells vs. the Machines," a creation of the same person who made "BoJack Horseman," which has recently released a trailer.

Apart from his work on the new Bond film, Knight is also working on a historical drama "The House of Guinness" for Netflix and preparing a feature film adaptation of "Peaky Blinders."

As the production of the new James Bond film moves forward, the studio will now need to choose the actor to play agent 007. If Taylor-Johnson accepts the role, he will bring a fresh perspective to the iconic character, adding another layer to the enduring legacy of James Bond.

Fans of movies-and-tv and entertainment enthusiasts may find the upcoming James Bond film intriguing, given the involvement of prominent creators like Steven Knight, known for his work on "Peaky Blinders" and Denis Villeneuve, who has directed critically acclaimed films like "Blade Runner 2049." The new Bond film, scheduled for a 2028 release, will also potentially present a fresh perspective on the iconic character if Aaron Taylor-Johnson accepts the role of Agent 007.
