Jake Paul Stirs the Pot After Canelo Alvarez's Underwhelming Win

Canelo Alvarez fought his way to a lackluster 12-round victory over William Scull on Saturday, unifying the super middleweight titles. But the dull bout has sent shockwaves through the boxing world, and YouTube sensation-turned-boxer Jake Paul couldn't resist jumping into the fray.

After years of back-and-forth with Alvarez, Paul ended up on the sidelines when Canelo chose to fight Scull instead of the internet celebrity. The dust had barely settled on Canelo's victory when Paul targeted the Mexican superstar.

"Embarrassing," Paul proclaimed, taking to social media to voice his opinion. But Paul's harsh words didn't stop there. He continuously criticized Canelo, despite the victory, insisting he would have "went out on his shield and come to win" if the two had ever stepped into the ring.

Paul's fellow MVP co-founder, unified featherweight world champion Amanda Serrano, echoed Paul's sentiments, stating, "What am I watching?" The underwhelming display from Canelo seemed to leave both Paul and Serrano unimpressed.

Meanwhile, Canelo's next challenge comes in the form of Terence Crawford, who will square off against the Mexican star in September. Canelo's journey to face Crawford has been a long one, with the former boxing legend agreeing to face Paul before ultimately choosing Scull instead. However, Paul's public criticism doesn't appear to have affected the upcoming bout.

Canelo's victory over Scull marked his second undisputed super middleweight championship. But the fight did little to live up to the hype, with both fighters setting a new record for the fewest punches thrown in a 12-round fight. Only 445 punches were thrown throughout the match, with Canelo landing just 152 hits, while Scull connected 293 times.

Despite the criticism, Canelo remains unfazed. "He just came to survive from the third round," Canelo told Ring Magazine, "I hate those kind of fighters." Canelo will take a short break before he gears up for his monumental showdown with Crawford.

If Crawford manages to defy the odds and hand Canelo his third defeat, the Nebraskan will make history as the first three-weight undisputed champion since the WBO was recognized as a major sanctioning body. "I'm feeling blessed," Crawford stated, "Everything happens for a reason, and there is a reason why I am here."

With Paul set to face Julio César Chávez Jr. in June, the stage is set for a series of exciting boxing matches in the coming months. Canelo and Crawford's highly anticipated bout will no doubt be a must-watch event, regardless of Paul's opinions.

Additional Insights

Jake Paul's comments seem to be less about analyzing Canelo's fight against Scull and more about fueling the existing tension between the two stars. In the past, Paul has secured signed agreements with high-profile figures, only to see those deals fall through, as was the case with Canelo Alvarez[1].

Critics argue that Terence Crawford's technical prowess and precision could pose a significant challenge for Canelo Alvarez[2]. However, Canelo remains unfazed and insists he's ready to face any opponent[3]. Ultimately, Paul's attention remains focused on his own career trajectory, with his fight against Julio César Chávez Jr. scheduled for June 28[1][4].
