A 36-year-old man named Troy Dugas was accidentally released from the Harris County Jail in Houston, Texas on Sunday at approximately 4:30 a.m. This unfortunate incident occurred due to jail staff not properly documenting Dugas' state prison sentence in his file.

Troy Dugas stands at 6 feet 1 inch tall, weighs 215 pounds, and has a tattoo on his neck. He was previously sentenced to five years in state prison for assaulting a woman and was also serving a two-year sentence for evading arrest. Dugas had been held at the Harris County Jail since Aug. 14 on additional local charges that were subsequently dismissed.

The Harris County Sheriff's Office is conducting a manhunt for Dugas and has issued a press release regarding his release. Anyone with information regarding Dugas' whereabouts is asked to call 911.

In a similar incident, Justin Tompkins, who was in jail since December 2022 on a capital murder charge, was mistakenly released on Feb. 20. The mistake with Tompkins' release was realized the next day, and he voluntarily returned to the jail to surrender that evening.

Authorities are currently investigating a crime scene where three girls were killed. Additionally, police have discovered the bodies of four family members, including two children, in a home.
