Jahn on the brink of financial ruin.

In a disappointing start to their third league campaign, SSV Jahn suffered a 0:2 defeat against SV Wehen Wiesbaden on Tuesday evening. The match, which took place in Wiesbaden, where Regensburg celebrated promotion in May 2024, saw the away team struggle to make an impact in attack.

The game began with the starting lineups undisclosed, but it was clear that SSV Jahn was lacking in dynamics going forward with the ball. Despite the efforts of players like Florian Stritzel and Benedikt Saller, who returned to the squad after passing a practical test with the U21 team following a groin injury, the team failed to find the back of the net.

Stritzel, in particular, showed a commendable defensive performance, preventing a Regensburg lead by blocking Dietz's shot from close range. However, his efforts were not enough to turn the tide of the game. The first goal for Regensburg came at the 70th minute, scored by Tarik Goezirsin.

Jahn co-trainer Munier Raychouni criticized the team's performance, noting the weaknesses in both attack and defense. In response, coach Michael Wimmer made a quadruple change in an attempt to turn the game around. Yet, it was Moritz Flotho who scored the second goal for Regensburg at the 84th minute, effectively sealing SSV Jahn's third consecutive league defeat away from home.

The attendance for the match was not mentioned, but the disappointment was palpable among SSV Jahn fans. The team has never started a third league season worse than its current performance, a fact that adds to the pressure on the squad as they prepare for their next match, away to Ulm on Sunday at 7:30 pm.

Despite the challenging start, there is still hope for SSV Jahn. With the return of key players and a renewed focus on improving their play, they may yet turn their fortunes around. The upcoming match against Ulm presents an opportunity to do just that, as they look to break their away curse and secure their first win of the season.
