Jackson Hole Leads 2026 Summer Rental Rush as Coastal Hotspots Fill Up Fast

Summer 2026 is shaping up to be a busy season for short-term rentals across the US. Jackson Hole, Wyoming, has taken an early lead, with nearly half of its properties already booked for June to August. Other coastal and scenic spots are also seeing high demand, though none of the top destinations lie in California or Texas this year. Jackson Hole tops the list with 45.5% of its short-term rentals reserved for summer 2026. The Wyoming hotspot outpaces other popular locations by a clear margin.

Cape Cod, Massachusetts, follows with 44% of its properties booked. Door County, Wisconsin, comes next at 42.6%, while the Outer Banks in North Carolina has reached 41.4%. Maine's beaches and Down East/Acadia coast are also in high demand, with occupancy rates of 40.7% and 40.2% respectively. Newport, Rhode Island, sits at 40.4%, just ahead of Alaska's Kenai Peninsula at 40.3%. Michigan's west coast has secured 39.4% of its summer bookings, while Atlantic City and Ocean City, New Jersey, stand at 38.7%. None of the top ten destinations this year include locations in California or Texas.

The data reveals strong early interest in summer 2026 rentals, particularly in outdoor and coastal areas. Jackson Hole's lead suggests travellers are booking well in advance, while other regions are also seeing steady reservations. The absence of California and Texas from the top ten marks a shift in this year's travel trends.
