Auction Announcement: David Lynch's Director's Chair and Personal Items Up for Grabs

Los Angeles, June 18, 2025 — Nearly five months since the passing of the visionary director and artist David Lynch, over 450 cherished belongings from his estate will be auctioned off. The auction, organized by Julien’s Auctions in partnership with Turner Classic Movies, promises a unique peek into the creative world of the esteemed filmmaker.

One of the auction highlights is a red leather director's chair, personally owned by Lynch and estimated to fetch between $5,000 and $7,000. Another coveted item is a 1950s designer sofa, anticipated to garner $8,000 to $10,000. An espresso machine from Lynch's home, valued at around $3,000, is also on the list.

Iconic red drapes from the enigmatic series "Twin Peaks" and 35mm film reels from Lynch's debut film "Eraserhead" (1977) will also be up for grabs. The auction will feature a diverse collection of musical instruments, records, furniture, art objects, and painting supplies from Lynch's studio.

Lynch, renowned for TV series "Twin Peaks" and cult films like "Wild at Heart" and "Blue Velvet," passed away in January at the age of 78. His death was a result of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, a long-term consequence of his lifelong smoking habit.

Although he was nominated for an Oscar four times, Lynch did not claim a win. In 2019, however, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences honored him with an honorary Oscar for his artistic vision that fearlessly transcended boundaries.

A live auction will take place in Los Angeles on June 18. The numerous items up for bidding are expected to draw significant interest from fans, collectors, and institutions. The collection is a testament to Lynch's multifaceted talent, offering a glimpse into his creative universe and the "Lynchian" aesthetic that has significantly impacted cinema and art.
