IT: Welcome to Derry's Debut Delayed by Hollywood Strikes, Finale Set for December 14

IT: Welcome to Derry's debut on HBO was delayed due to Hollywood strikes, but the first three episodes were mostly filmed beforehand. The season finale is set for December 14, with subsequent episodes airing Sundays at 9pm ET/PT.

The Writers Guild of America (WGA) and Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) strikes in 2023 affected the production start of IT: Welcome to Derry, originally planned for July. The WGA reached an agreement in September, followed by SAG-AFTRA in November, allowing production to resume.

The strikes also impacted the show's storyline, leading to changes in the finale's climate. Despite these setbacks, the series amassed 5.7M U.S. viewers in its debut, with the second episode released early in celebration of Halloween.

IT: Welcome to Derry's season finale is scheduled for December 14, with new episodes airing Sundays on HBO and HBO Max. The show's strong debut, despite production delays, signals promising viewership.
