Istanbul's Culture Route Festival Lights Up History with AI-Driven Mapping Shows

The Istanbul Culture Route Festival is underway, bringing a blend of history, art, and technology to life through stunning mapping shows. Curated by İsmail Erdoğan and prepared by art historian and digital artist Hakan Yılmaz, with music composed by Gürcan Ersoy, these shows are a must-see for locals and tourists alike.

At the iconic Maiden's Tower, the show 'The Dream of Conquest' premiered, depicting Istanbul's conquest and the cultural richness that followed. AI was ingeniously used to make Fatih Sultan Mehmet's portrait gaze directly at the audience, adding an interactive touch. Meanwhile, at the Galata Tower, 'Galata Dreams' took centre stage, featuring iconic characters from Ottoman miniature art in a contemporary narrative. This show saw characters from Mehmed Siyah Kalem, Levni, and Veli Can interact, with a dragon from Veli Can's work making a striking appearance.

The 'Light of Victory' project at Tophane Fountain focuses on Fatih Sultan Mehmet's intellectual and artistic sides, showcasing Istanbul's revival after the conquest. This project is part of the festival coordinated by the Culture and Tourism Ministry, which runs until Oct. 5.

The Istanbul Culture Route Festival is treating audiences to a unique blend of history and art, brought to life through cutting-edge technology. With shows at Galata Tower, Maiden's Tower, and Tophane Fountain, running daily from 8 p.m. to midnight, there's plenty of time to immerse yourself in these captivating displays.
