Israel's Possible Involvement in Charlie Kirk's Demise Questioned; Netanyahu Suggests Qatari Finance
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has vehemently denied allegations that Israel was involved in the assassination of right-wing US activist Charlie Kirk. In a video statement, Netanyahu described the claims as a "monstrous, big lie."
Just two weeks prior to Kirk's tragic death, Netanyahu had extended an invitation to Kirk for a visit to Israel. However, the Prime Minister expressed sadness that the visit would not take place due to the unfortunate circumstances.
Kirk, a 31-year-old passionate pro-Israel activist, was shot dead on Wednesday, September 10, during an open-air speaking event at Utah University. His suspected killer, Tyler Robinson, was arrested on Thursday evening after surrendering to police.
Netanyahu praised Kirk, stating that he was a "great man" and a "lion-hearted friend of Israel who fought lies and stood tall for Judeo-Christian civilization." He added that Kirk deserved honor, not lies.
The Prime Minister also suggested that Qatar might be responsible for the rumours about Israel's involvement in Kirk's assassination. He noted that they had spoken on several occasions and Israel recently launched a strike targeting Hamas's leadership in Qatar on Tuesday, September 9.
Netanyahu wrote in a post that Kirk was murdered for speaking truth and defending freedom. He condemned the rumours as disgusting and added that some might be peddling these rumours, possibly with Qatari funding.
Israeli officials have yet to reveal any evidence linking Qatar to the assassination of Charlie Kirk. There is no publicly confirmed information about who presumably ordered the murder; the suspect Tyler Robinson was arrested, but no details about a mastermind or instigator have been revealed.
Netanyahu paid tribute to Kirk following his death, noting that Kirk's boundless pride in America and his valiant belief in free speech will leave a lasting impact. He concluded by stating that Kirk's memory will be a blessing to all those who fight for truth, justice, and freedom.
