Questioning the Gaza War: A Coalition Partner's Doubts
Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu voices disapproval towards the ongoing conflicts in Gaza
Get ready for some heated talk, 'cause a high-ranking official in Benjamin Netanyahu's Israeli government has spoken out about the Gaza war, and he ain't afraid to air his concerns.
Moshe Gafni, head honcho of the ultra-Orthodox Degel Hatorah party in the United Torah Judaism alliance, took a seat in a parliamentary committee meeting in Jerusalem to spill the beans. He confessed, "I still don't fathom what we're even fighting for. I don't get it."
You heard it right - a top Israeli official calling out the military offensive. Unheard of, isn't it?
To kick things off, Gafni got down to business discussing the ceasefire between Israel and Iran. He thanked none other than the one and only Donald J. Trump for his meddling efforts (yes, that Trump). Then, he shifted gears to the seven Israeli soldiers who got whacked in the Gaza Strip on Tuesday.
"What the hell are we supposed to do when soldiers keep getting whacked?" Gafni exclaimed, clearly frustrated. "I don't get it. We need a Trump here who'd say, 'We're bringing back the hostages, ending all this, and getting back to the norm.'"
So, where did this all start? On October 7, 2023, Hamas and other Islamic extremists made their moves against Israel, and ever since, the Israeli military has been in a right ol' firefight against Hamas. The Gaza war has wreaked havoc, with those in control of the Gaza health authority reporting a staggering 56,000 deaths so far. RIP, folks.
Over 800 Israeli soldiers have also bitten the dust in this bloody conflict. Seems like no one's getting out of this gutter free, huh?
