Israel's prime minister, Netanyahu, to issue fresh military commands for Gaza conflict this week - Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu to issue fresh commands to the army for the Gaza conflict, starting this week.

The Gaza Strip is currently the site of an intense war, with significant and historic progress reported by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The conflict was triggered by a large-scale attack by the Hamas on Israel on October 7, 2023.

Israel, under Prime Minister Netanyahu, broke the previous ceasefire on March 18, 2025, by launching surprise airstrikes against Gaza due to Hamas's refusal to release hostages and reject proposals to extend the ceasefire. As a result, the ceasefire has effectively collapsed.

Netanyahu has declared that Israel has "resumed combat in full force" against Hamas, and is planning to give new orders for the Gaza War this week. The Prime Minister's war goals include defeating the enemy, freeing hostages, and ensuring that the Gaza Strip no longer poses a threat to Israel.

However, hundreds of former Israeli security officials, including former intelligence chiefs, have called on US President Donald Trump to increase pressure on Netanyahu for a ceasefire. These officials have urged Trump to push Netanyahu towards a ceasefire, believing that Hamas no longer poses a strategic threat to Israel.

The Hamas has released propaganda videos showing two emaciated Israeli hostages, and more than 1210 people were killed in Israel, and 251 were taken hostage to the Gaza Strip according to Israeli reports.

According to Hamas authorities, more than 60,400 people have been killed in the Gaza Strip so far, a claim that cannot be independently confirmed.

Regarding the stance of Donald Trump, although Joe Biden initially supported a ceasefire and negotiated proposals with multiple mediators, after Netanyahu’s re-election, Trump has joined Biden in pressuring Israel to accept ceasefire proposals. However, in the current phase, Trump seems to be acquiescing to Israel’s decision for reoccupation, stating “That’s going to be pretty much up to Israel.”

Reports also suggest Trump’s administration is considering shifting to an "all-for-all" hostage exchange approach, which would involve ceasing military activities, exchanging all hostages at once for a large number of Palestinians held by Israel, increasing humanitarian aid to Gaza, and establishing a timetable for Israeli withdrawal linked to interim Arab security forces.

Netanyahu’s position is currently against a ceasefire while pursuing full military control of Gaza, whereas Trump’s recent stance appears more flexible, potentially favoring a comprehensive hostage exchange and humanitarian approach—but ultimately defers to Israel’s decisions. The ceasefire talks have collapsed amid ongoing hostilities and conflicting strategies regarding hostages, military operations, and humanitarian considerations.

Netanyahu, following the collapse of the ceasefire, will give new orders for the Gaza War this week, commanding the Israeli army to continue combat against Hamas in the Gaza Strip. However, Donald Trump, despite Netanyahu's resistance, is considering a flexible stance, potentially favoring a comprehensive hostage exchange and humanitarian approach in the ongoing Gaza conflict.
