The situation at Gaza's Al-Shifa Hospital, one of the main medical facilities in the region, is escalating into a catastrophe, according to Iyad Al-Jabri, Director of the Martyrs of Al-Aqsa Hospital. The IDF has been expanding its operation in the southern part of the medical complex, including significant areas of Al-Shifa, leveling them with bulldozers.

The Director of the Martyrs of Al-Aqsa Hospital has warned that the situation is becoming increasingly dire. He added that the hospital is no longer able to treat some seriously injured patients due to a fuel shortage, which has compounded the challenges they face. The fuel shortage has also affected the maternity ward, with reports indicating that the leveling occurred adjacent to it.

Contact with medics at Al-Shifa Hospital is currently lost, and Israeli forces have reportedly detained a large number of people present in the hospital, including medical staff. This has further strained the already overburdened facility.

Around 460 wounded are currently being treated at the Martyrs of Al-Aqsa Hospital, more than three times its capacity. The hospital is supported by various aid organizations, such as UNICEF, which provides therapeutic food and psychosocial support, among other efforts to address severe malnutrition and shortages caused by the blockade.

Despite the crisis at Al-Shifa Hospital, there have been no reports of humanitarian aid reaching the hospital specifically. However, over two days, 128 trucks of humanitarian aid have entered Gaza, according to a separate report.

The developments at Al-Shifa Hospital have been reported by various news outlets, including i24 and Al Mayadeen TV. The incident underscores the urgent need for unhindered access to medical facilities and humanitarian aid in times of conflict.
