In a shocking turn of events, reports suggest that more than 30 Palestinians lost their lives due to Israeli attacks near humanitarian aid distribution centers in the Gaza Strip.[1] Mahmud Bassal, spokesman of the Hamas-controlled Civil Defense Authority, reported Israeli soldiers opened fire near a roundabout in Rafah on June 16, 2025.[1]

Ahmed al-Farra, head of the children's clinic at the Nasser Hospital in Khan Yunis, disclosed distressing information about the desperate state of Gazan residents.[1] According to Farra, the Gazan population has been starving, with no food for almost four months.[1]

Since early March, Israel has imposed a blockade on humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip due to stalled ceasefire talks.[1] Although the blockade was lifted partially at the end of May, it seems the residents are still struggling to access essential aid. "All borders are closed, and this is the only way to get help," Farra explained, referring to distribution centers of the controversial GHF foundation.[1]

The Israeli army has pledged to investigate the reports, as Israel faces mounting international pressure over the dire humanitarian situation in the Palestinian territories.[1] The UN recently issued a dire warning of an impending famine in the entire Gaza Strip, and the situation remains increasingly tense.[1]

The GHF foundation, backed by the US and Israel, started its work in the Gaza Strip at the end of May, opening four distribution centers across the Palestinian territory. However, both the UN and major aid organizations refuse to cooperate with the foundation, accused of aligning with the Israeli army's plans.[1]

Since the GHF's arrival in the Gaza Strip, there have been incidents of chaos and violence at the centers, signifying an urgent need for thorough investigations and accountability.[1]
