Israel Warns Hamas: Accept Trump's Peace Plan or Face Military Action

In a tense diplomatic standoff, Israel's Ambassador to the UN, Danny Danon, has issued a stark warning to Hamas, stating that Israel 'will finish the job' if the group does not accept Donald Trump's peace plan for the Israel news. The US President has given Hamas a deadline of 'three or four days' to respond to the proposal, which includes a path towards a Palestinian state and an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.

The plan, unveiled by Trump, offers a pathway to negotiate the creation of a Palestinian state, despite Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's denial of agreement on this point. It also includes an immediate ceasefire, withdrawal of Israeli troops, release of hostages, and entry of humanitarian aid under UN supervision. Trump warned that if Hamas does not accept the plan, the US will support Israel's military operation in the Gaza Strip.

Hamas, however, has requested a 24-hour ceasefire from Israel after losing contact with two hostages during the fighting in Gaza. The families of Israeli hostages reacted cautiously to Trump's peace plan, expressing hope and anxiety for their loved ones' release. Meanwhile, the plan excludes Hamas from governance of the Gaza Strip, instead proposing a transitional government of Palestinian technocrats and international experts.

Since October 7, 2023, Israel's offensive in Gaza has resulted in over 66,000 deaths, according to Gaza's health authorities. Hamas has initiated consultations with its leadership and other Palestinian factions to issue a formal response to the plan. As of late September 2023, the Hamas government has not officially published its formal position on the plan, stating it would 'carefully examine' it before issuing an official response.

With the deadline looming, all eyes are on Hamas to see if it will accept Trump's peace plan. The stakes are high, with the potential for further military action if a diplomatic solution cannot be reached. The families of Israeli hostages eagerly await news of their loved ones' release, hoping that the plan will bring an end to the conflict.
