Israel mobilizes 60,000 troops from its reservists for a potential invasion of Gaza, known as "Operation Gideon's Chariots"

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have initiated Operation Merkavot Gideon - Bet, a significant operation aimed at capturing the city of Gaza. This operation, which was approved by Israel's Defense Minister, Israel Katz, could involve up to 60,000 reservists, with 20,000 reserve fighters already in the Gaza sector alongside conscript soldiers.

The IDF is currently clearing the outskirts of the city, demolishing buildings used by militants as strongholds. The operation's primary goal is to destroy the Hamas terror infrastructure within the densely populated city.

Reports suggest that Israel is negotiating with potential destinations for Palestinian relocation, including South Sudan and other African countries. However, it's important to note that the proposed relocation is not mentioned as a condition for ending the war in the Gaza Strip.

Prime Minister Netanyahu has referred to this measure as "voluntary migration." He has expressed a desire to implement U.S. President Donald Trump's idea of relocating a significant portion of Gaza's population.

The distribution of reserve call-up notices has begun on August 20. The operation, named Gideon's Chariots - Phase Two, is a significant escalation in the ongoing conflict.

The Prime Minister's office has stated that Israel would only consider a settlement agreement in the Gaza Strip if all hostages are released and certain conditions for ending the war are met.

Palestinians, human rights organizations, and a significant portion of the international community have rejected these proposals, considering them plans for forced expulsion in violation of international law.

As the operation unfolds, the world watches with bated breath, hoping for a peaceful resolution to the ongoing conflict in the Gaza Strip.
