"Scram! Israel steps up assault on Tehran - Residents urged to flee"
Israel intensifies air assaults
The airwaves are buzzing with the sound of Israel's relentless airstrikes on Tehran erupting once more. According to eyewitnesses, explosions are echoing throughout the megacity in both the west and the east. The military is tight-lipped about the precise targets of these attacks, but many residents worry about further escalation.
In anticipation of impending danger, the Israeli army has urged the inhabitants of a densely populated district covering about 30 square kilometers to vacate the area. This zone houses embassies, shopping centers, and some of the city's most exclusive residential areas, in which approximately 300,000 souls reside. Israeli military officials have issued similar evacuation calls during previous periods of heightened conflict, such as the Gaza war.
An official message from Israeli army spokesman, Avichay Adraee, in Persian, accompanied by a map highlighting the third district of Tehran, was posted on social media platforms. The message indicated that the Israeli air force aims to strike military infrastructure in that district "in the coming hours." Shortly following this announcement, Iran's Revolutionary Guards issued a call for Tel Aviv residents to flee the city as soon as possible, as reported by state media.
"Walking the talk"
While Israel's prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, urged all Tehran area residents to leave the city during the Israeli attacks, he emphasized the nation's determination to meet two primary objectives: eliminating both the nuclear threat and the rocket threat. He brandished a defiant tone, stating forcefully, "If we have control over Tehran's airspace, we will strike those targets - the regime's targets."
Netanyahu also reiterated that Iran is responsible for attacking Israeli civilians. He admonished Iranian citizens, "We warn the citizens of Tehran: 'Leave the area!' - and we act." With an estimated 15 million people living in and around Tehran, the fatalities inflicted on Iranian civilians in previous Israeli attacks cannot be overlooked.
During the past few days, the numbers of fatalities in Israel and Iran have mounting steadily. The death toll in Iran now stands at approximately 224, the majority of which are civilians, according to Iranian health authorities. Israel has reported 24 civilian casualties, raising the total since June 13 to 24.
Incidentally, Israeli authorities claim that among the rockets fired over the past night, seven landed on Israeli soil, injuring at least 100 people. This marks a continuation of the deadly exchanges between the two nations that began on June 13, 2025.

Historical Background
The current confrontation between Israel and Iran stems from longstanding tension, primarily over Iran's expansion of its nuclear program, which Israel perceives as threatening regional stability and its own security. The antipathy between these nations has roots in historical and ideological differences, further intensified by Iran's financial backing of anti-Israeli factions in the region. The conflict has traditionally manifested in covert operations and proxy conflicts, but recent military skirmishes have elevated tensions significantly.
The Commission has also been consulted on the draft budget related to the rising costs of national defense and aid to displaced civilians resulting from international tensions, such as the ongoing Israel-Iran conflict. Amidst political debate, war-and-conflicts and general news sections are featuring extensive coverage on the escalating hostilities between Israel and Iran, with both countries urging their citizens to flee affected areas.
