Escalating Tensions: Prime Minister Shehbaz Warns of Potential Dangers Arising from Israel's Ambition to Dominate Gaza

Israel intends to claim authority over Gaza poses a potentially perilous intensification, according to Prime Minister Shehbaz

In a recent development, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have received approval from their political-security cabinet to take control of Gaza City, a move that has been met with intensifying criticism both at home and abroad.

The plan, if executed, could potentially displace around 800,000 civilians by early October 2025, worsening an already severe humanitarian crisis in the region. This was the warning issued by the United Nations (UN) during an emergency Security Council session, expressing strong concern about the potential escalation.

The UN officials stressed that this move represents a dangerous escalation that could substantially worsen conditions on the ground. Other nations, including Japan, Belgium, and Denmark, have also voiced their concerns, urging Israel to reconsider its decision and return to negotiations towards a ceasefire and hostage release.

Japan, in particular, expressed strong concern that Israel's decision would exacerbate Gaza's dire humanitarian situation and called on all parties to adhere to international and humanitarian law. They oppose actions that undermine a two-state solution.

Pakistan, under the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, has also joined the chorus of condemnation. Sharif reiterated Pakistan's support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, including their right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent and sovereign State of Palestine.

Sharif further stated that peace in the region will remain elusive as long as Israel's prolonged, illegal occupation of Palestinian territory endures. He urged the international community to ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza and called on global powers to intervene to stop Israeli aggression and protect innocent people in Gaza.

In a related development, the ongoing military operations in the region are being condemned by various countries, including Pakistan. Prime Minister Sharif has repeatedly condemned these operations, stating that their expansion will only worsen the already existing humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

However, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel has stated that Israel intends to take military control of the entire Gaza strip. The Israeli Defense Forces have also pledged to provide humanitarian aid to the civilian population outside the combat zones.

The international response to this plan has been marked by strong concern and warnings about escalation and humanitarian impact. As the situation unfolds, the world watches with bated breath, hoping for a peaceful resolution to this long-standing conflict.
