The ongoing conflict between Israel and the Palestinian territory, particularly in Gaza, has resulted in a significant loss of life and displacement of civilians. According to the Gaza Strip's health ministry, the body count from the Israeli military's offensive has risen to at least 65,088.

Israel's retaliatory campaign has also taken a heavy toll, with at least 64,964 people killed, mostly civilians, according to figures from the territory's health ministry. The October 2023 attack by Hamas on Israel resulted in the deaths of 1,219 people, most of them civilians.

The situation in Gaza City is particularly dire. Ibrahim Al-Besheiti, a resident of the Al-Sabra neighborhood, stated that more than 350,000 people had fled the city ahead of the ground offensive, and that the sound of aircraft never stops, making the situation already catastrophic.

Overnight bombing has reduced residential blocks in the north of Gaza City to mounds of rubble. The Israeli military's bombing of a residential block in the city's north killed at least 13 people, including children, as reported by the Gaza civil defense agency.

The United Nations recently estimated that nearly one million people live in Gaza City and its surroundings. Reports of civilian casualties have sparked international concern, with the United Nations calling for an immediate ceasefire.

The Israeli military has stated that they would look into reports of strikes, but the commander responsible for the bombardment of residential blocks in Gaza City has not been explicitly named. The Israeli military command has ordered residents of Gaza City to evacuate ahead of a major attack, but no specific commander is publicly identified in these reports.

Reports from the ground paint a grim picture of the ongoing conflict. Abu Abd Zaqout stated that his uncle's family's house was bombed, and there were about 50 people inside, including women and children. A body was found in the rubble of an Israeli bombing in Gaza City.

As the conflict continues, the number of displaced civilians and casualties continues to rise, with the civil defense agency reporting that Israeli forces had killed at least 37 people since dawn across the Palestinian territory. The international community is urging both sides to find a peaceful resolution to the conflict, and to prioritize the safety and well-being of civilians.
