The Israeli Army has disclosed that they are entrenched in the toughest combat against the radical Islamic Palestinian faction, Hamas, since commencement of the ground offensive in the Gaza Strip. This fierce battle is taking place in Chan Junis, the largest city in the southern region of Gaza, which has been surrounded by Israeli soldiers since October 11. Israel’s troops have progressed into the city center, and Hamas targets have faced intense bombardment, with the military claiming hundreds of them have been struck.
In an official announcement, Hamas' military wing, the Kassam Brigades, affirmed that their fighters were involved in the skirmishes. The Israeli military reported that eight of their soldiers were wounded or killed on October 7, whilst eight armored vehicles were destroyed. According to their records, two Israeli soldiers lost their lives during the ground offensive, bringing the total casualties to 83.
