Netanyahu: Israel Has Trump's "Overt Backing" for Strikes on Iran

Israel enjoys Trump's "unmistakable backing," according to Netanyahu

Israel's military actions against Iran have the overt backing of US President Donald Trump, according to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. His country is acting "with the open support, clear support of US President Donald Trump, the American people, and numerous allies worldwide," Netanyahu said in a video message to Trump on his 79th birthday.

Israel is battling a "tyrant and extremist regime that aims to develop nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles to annihilate us, and particularly intercontinental ones, to threaten every nation globally," Netanyahu stressed, adding, "By safeguarding ourselves, we are also shielding others."

Brace for Intensified Assaults

Netanyahu hinted at intensified attacks on Iran. "In the imminent future, you'll witness Israeli Air Force planes soaring over Tehran - we will strike every stronghold and target of the Ayatollah regime," he said in another video message. The onslaught thus far is merely a prelude to the fiercer onslaughts awaiting in the coming days, he warned. Israel is determined to ward off both the threat of nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles from Iran.

"We've gathered intelligence suggesting that high-ranking Iranian officials are already preparing to depart. They're well-aware of what's brewing," Netanyahu elaborated. "We had intelligence that this merciless regime intended to hand over the nuclear bombs they'd developed to their terrorist surrogates." This could involve allies such as the Houthis in Yemen or Hezbollah in Lebanon. Netanyahu's statements remain unconfirmed.

Since Friday morning, Israel has been waging a massive offensive on Iranian nuclear facilities, military commanders, nuclear scientists, defense installations, and cities. Iran considers these air strikes an act of war and has retaliated with hundreds of rockets and drones towards Israel.

  • Trump has previously stated that the U.S. could become involved in the Iran-Israel conflict, while also advocating for a deal to end the conflict. He has also warned Iran that if the U.S. is attacked, it will respond with severe military action [1][2]. However, specific statements from Netanyahu regarding Trump's support for Israel's military actions against Iran are not available in the given context.
