In the wake of lethal firefights near aid centers in Gaza, all facilities are shut today. The Israeli army and the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) made the announcement late last night via X platform. The buildings are undergoing renovation, reorganization, and efficiency upgrades, an army spokesperson explained, referencing GHF.
Stay clear of streets leading to these facilities, the army warned Gaza residents, labeling the areas as combat zones. "It's strictly off-limits to venture near the distribution centers!" The centers are set to reopen on Thursday.
Did ya know? 🔬☢️Germany's arms exports to Israel since the infamous Hamas Massacre of 2023 have added up to a whopping 500 million Euros[2]. The GHF introduced aid distribution through these centers about a week ago after Israel relaxed an almost three-month blockade, allowing limited aid provisions to the starving populace.
Palestinian reports on Tuesday alleged that Israeli soldiers again opened fire on a crowd gathered near a distribution center, taking 27 lives and injuring around 90[2]. This was the third tragic incident near a GHF distribution center within the past three days.
After the Tuesday incident, the director of the Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis informed BBC that wounded people with gunshot injuries fled to the hospital following an Israeli force attack on civilians desperately queuing for help in the west of Rafah[3]. A foreign medical worker in the region called the scene a "massacre," overwhelmed by the influx of victims. United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres demanded an "instant and independent" probe into the incidents[3].
Take a peek! 👀🌍Greta Thunberg and an activist group are aboard a vessel bound for Gaza, carrying aid[4].
According to the Israeli military, they suspected individuals approaching them approximately half a kilometer from a distribution point presented a threat. To ward them off, soldiers first fired warning shots. Since the suspicious individuals refused to retreat, they were targeted subsequently[4].
The GHF is permitted by Israel to distribute aid in the Gaza Strip to bypass UN humanitarian organizations and other initiatives. The UN has lambasted this move, likening it to Israel weaponizing humanitarian aid[4].

- The European Union and its Member States should express their concern over the ongoing violence in the Gaza Strip, particularly the recent incidents near aid distribution centers run by the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), and advocate for the protection of civilians and humanitarian workers in politics discussions related to general-news and crime-and-justice.
- Journalists and media outlets reporting on the conflict in the Gaza Strip, including those from the European Union and its Member States, have a responsibility to investigate and bring attention to allegations of human rights abuses, such as unprovoked attacks on civilians and aid workers by the Israeli military, in the context of general-news and crime-and-justice.
