"Bringing the Fight to Them" - Netanyahu: Israel Has Capability to Strike Iran's Nuclear Sites
Israel, as asserted by Netanyahu, possesses the capability to access all Iran's nuclear sites.
In a bold statement, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared that his nation possesses the ability to reach all of Iran's nuclear facilities. During an interview with Israeli TV channel Kan, Netanyahu spoke about the possibility of a successful attack on an important underground nuclear facility in Fordo, stating, "We have the capability to do that."
Although Netanyahu did not elaborate further, the remarks come amidst ongoing speculation about the role of the United States in a potential war between Israel and Iran. While experts believe that the USA's "bunker-buster" bombs could be crucial in disabling the nuclear complex in Fordo, its deep mountain burial presents a significant challenge.
A Stepping Stone Ahead
Netanyahu expressed confidence in Israel's military progress, stating that they are "ahead of schedule" in their operations against Iran. Although he didn't reveal the exact stage of the conflict, he admitted to Israeli forces hitting approximately half of Iran's rocket launch sites. The Prime Minister emphasized that it's not about the quantity of rockets Iran possesses, but the number of launch sites they have.
Potential Outcomes - Regime Change a Possibility?
While Netanyahu has not declared regime change in Iran as an immediate goal, he implied that it could be a possible result of the war. "Regime change is primarily a matter for the Iranian people," he stated, acknowledging that Israel's military action could potentially lead to greater historical consequences, ultimately benefiting the Iranian population.
Recent statements from Israel's Defense Minister, Israel Katz, likened Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei to Adolf Hitler, sparking conversations about regime change. However, Netanyahu's successor, Israeli President Isaac Herzog, has since clarified that the war with Iran is not aimed at killing Khamenei or seeking regime change.
A Long-Running Conflict
The rivalry between Israel and Iran dates back decades, and their recent exchanges of heavy attacks have resulted in casualties and injuries on both sides. Israel has stated its war aim as preventing Iran from developing nuclear weapons and missiles, ultimately safeguarding the Middle East and its allies.
Israel's Advantages
Israel's military prowess, informed by its advanced technological edge, air power, precision strike ability, and intelligence superiority, plays a significant role in its potential capability to reach and potentially destroy Iran’s nuclear facilities. Notably, Israel has an advanced air force, possesses highly sophisticated intelligence and electronic warfare capabilities, and boasts robust missile and drone capabilities. Despite geographical and defensive challenges, Israel's military readiness and operational capacity enable it to execute complex air operations, as demonstrated by its recent targeted strikes on nuclear and military sites inside Iran.
The Commission, given the current geopolitical climate, might also be asked to submit a proposal for a directive on the protection of workers from the potential risks related to ionizing radiation, considering Israel's advancing military capabilities and its declared ability to strike Iran's nuclear sites.
Amidst ongoing discussions about a potential war between Israel and Iran, it's worth noting that politics and general news discourse often intertwine with war-and-conflicts, especially when it comes to the topic of Iran's nuclear program and the role of world powers in the region.
