The Third Blow: Israel Clobbers One-Third of Iranian Ground-to-Ground Missile Launch Sites
Israel annihilates one-third of Iran's launch sites.
In an unapologetic pursuit, Israel is on a mission to incapacitate Iran's threatening missile launches towards their territories. During a press conference featuring over 50 combat aircraft, Israel's Brigadier General Effie Defrin announced the takedown of a third of the Iranian regime's ground-to-ground missile launch sites.
According to Defrin, at least 120 launch facilities were obliterated. These sites, alleged to be preparing strikes on Israel, in addition to coordination quarters, were completely wiped out. Shortly after, a salvo of 20 rockets rained down on Israel, with videos of the alleged obliteration of some launch sites surfacing on the Israeli Defense Force's website.
Meanwhile, Iranian media broadcasted harrowing images of a hospital in Kermanshah city appearing as a victim of the Israeli bombing. The Fars news agency relinquished a video displayed destroyed windows, collapsed ceilings, and devastated hospital rooms in the clinic.
Israel orchestrated an extensive, historically unprecedented attack on Iran overnight on Friday, insisting Iran's nuclear program was the impetus. The offensive targeted nuclear facilities, military installations, and vital military personnel. In counterattack, Iran bombarded Israel with rockets and drones.
Beyond the Launch Sites: Operation Rising Lion
Israel's recent operation, Operation Rising Lion, did not spare Iranian nuclear facilities, military installations, and high-ranking military personnel, leaving a significant mark on Iran's military capabilities and nuclear program. The operation damaged the Natanz nuclear facility and Isfahan's uranium conversion facility, vital components of Iran's nuclear program. The Fordow Fuel Enrichment Plant, fortified underground, reportedly remained untouched.
The attacks claimed the lives of multiple top military leaders, including ISRC commander Hossein Salami, Iranian Armed Forces Chief of Staff Major General Mohammad Bagheri, and key nuclear scientists like Fereydoon Abbasi and Mohammad Mehdi Tehranchi. This gap in leadership could disrupt Iran's military command structure and nuclear research capabilities. Moreover, Israel targeted Iranian ballistic missile sites, potentially curtailing Iran's immediate ability to launch a substantial missile response, as evident in Iran's subsequent retaliatory strikes.
Overall, the operation weakened Iran's military standing and disrupted its nuclear program by crippling key infrastructure and personnel. However, the long-term impact on Iran's nuclear aspirations is yet to be determined, as some fundamental facilities like the Fordow plant may remain unscathed.
