Isle of Man Star Sam Perry Kicks Off University Career at Loughborough
Sam Perry, a top Isle of Man athlete, has started his academic journey at Loughborough University while continuing his athletic pursuits. Perry, who won two individual medals at the 2025 Island Games, is now training at one of the UK's premier high-performance environments.
Perry's athletic prowess began at a young age, demonstrating remarkable consistency across middle-distance track events, cross-country, and hill running since he was an under-11. His impressive performances culminated in a bronze medal in the 1,500 metres and a silver in the 800 metres at the 2025 Island Games. Notably, his time of 1:51.98 in the 800 metres stands as the fourth fastest in Island Games history.
As part of Loughborough University's performance squad, Perry enjoys access to free blood tests, massages, and other support services. His training schedule includes international camps in Valencia and Potchefstroom, South Africa, in January and Easter respectively. Closer to home, Perry plans to participate in the Liverpool Cross-Country at Sefton Park in November and explore indoor racing this season.
