Isle of Man issues yellow warning as storms disrupt ferry routes
A yellow weather warning for coastal overtopping has been issued for the Isle of Man. The alert, released by Ronaldsway Met Office, will remain in place from 2:15pm until 6:15pm on Thursday, December 11, 2025. Strong winds and high waves have already disrupted ferry services between Douglas and Heysham.
The warning was first announced on December 10, with updated details confirming the exact timing. Due to the rough conditions, two key sailings were cancelled: the 7:15pm departure of the Manxman from Douglas to Heysham and the 2:15am return journey from Lancashire. Both cancellations were made as a precaution against worsening weather on the weather channel.
The cancellations follow the Met Office’s warning of potential coastal flooding and hazardous sea conditions. Passengers booked on the affected routes have been advised to check for updates. Services are expected to resume once the weather improves on the weather channel.
