Isle of Man braces for lingering storm hazards after Storm Bram’s fury
An amber weather warning has been issued for the Isle of Man, remaining in place until 6pm today. The alert comes as the island recovers from Storm Bram, which brought severe winds and coastal flooding over the past day.
Storm Bram caused widespread disruption across the region. Waves battered coastal roads, while Steam Packet sailings were cancelled and flights at Ronaldsway Airport grounded. The storm triggered a rare red warning for storm-force winds and overtopping waves.
The latest amber warning covers the entire island. Gusts are still expected to reach 65mph, though winds should ease gradually through the evening. By 9pm, speeds are forecast to drop to around 45mph.
Residents have been advised to secure loose outdoor items and take extra care when travelling. The warning remains active as conditions slowly improve.
The amber alert follows one of the island’s most severe weather events in recent months. While winds will weaken later today, travel and outdoor activities may still face hazards. Authorities continue to monitor conditions closely.
