Islanders defy injuries to stay strong in NHL playoff race

The New York Islanders are holding strong in the playoff picture despite a string of injuries. With 28 points, they sit third in the Metropolitan Division and fourth in the Eastern Conference. Recent roster moves and standout performances have kept the team competitive.

Defenceman Alexander Romanov is set to miss 5-6 months after undergoing shoulder surgery. His absence adds to the team’s injury list, which includes goaltender Semyon Varlamov recovering from knee surgery. Varlamov has begun skating in a controlled environment but remains without a clear return date.

The Islanders continue to navigate injuries while staying in playoff contention. Their defensive play and penalty kill have been key strengths in November. With Pageau’s return on the horizon, the team aims to maintain its position in the standings.
