Dressage legend Isabell Werth has announced the death of Don Johnson, a horse she described as the 'leader of our retiree herd'. The 21-year-old suffered an incurable leg fracture, bringing an end to a life marked by energy and personality.

Don Johnson spent almost his entire career at Werth’s Ruherichterstall stables. There, he became known for his lively character and willingness to join in celebrations—often showing off special dance moves. His playful nature remained unchanged until his final days.

Don Johnson’s death leaves a gap in Werth’s stables, where he was both a retired champion and a beloved figure. His energy and presence shaped daily life at Ruherichterstall for years. The dressage world has lost one of its most memorable characters.
