Is there an update on the injury status of Maxim de Cuyper from Brighton in the Premier League?

Brighton & Hove Albion's recent acquisition, Maxim de Cuyper, suffered a knee injury during the match against Bournemouth last weekend, casting doubt over his availability for the upcoming game against Tottenham Hotspur.

De Cuyper, who joined Brighton from Club Brugge in July for a fee of around £17.5m, has been a consistent presence in the Seagulls' lineup this season, starting every Premier League match. His departure from the game in the 24th minute due to injury has left a void on the right flank.

The severity of De Cuyper's injury is not specified, but Brighton will be hopeful that he isn't out for a sustained period. The Belgian full-back took over the position from Pervis Estupinan, who left for Milan in the summer transfer window.

The league is still in its early stages, with Brighton having a mixed start to the season. They have conceded six goals in four league games, a statistic they will be keen to improve upon in the upcoming fixtures.

De Cuyper's injury comes at a crucial time for Brighton, as a victory against Tottenham at the Amex could see them move into the top half of the table. Last season, De Cuyper made 54 appearances for Club Brugge, helping them reach the last 16 of the Champions League.

Fabian Hurzeler also lost Jack Hinshelwood to injury during the match against Bournemouth. The extent of Hinshelwood's injury is not yet known, but his absence could further deplete Brighton's defensive options.

Adam Webster, another defender, is a longer-term absentee for Brighton due to an ACL injury sustained during pre-season training. His return is eagerly anticipated, but it remains unclear when he will be able to feature again.

The match between Brighton and Tottenham will take place at the Amex on Saturday, September 20, with a 3pm kick off. The Seagulls will be hoping for a positive result, but the injury to De Cuyper adds an extra layer of uncertainty to their preparations.

Sussex World reports that De Cuyper's knee injury is not believed to be serious, which will come as a relief to Brighton fans. However, the full extent of the injury and the timeframe for his recovery remain to be seen.

As always, Brighton will be looking to their resilience and team spirit to overcome the challenges posed by injuries and secure a valuable three points against Tottenham.
