Is the Pinarello Grevil F the gravel bicycle worth investing in?

Pinarello, a renowned name in the cycling world, has launched its latest offering - the Grevil F, a gravel bike designed for endurance racing and multi-day gravel events.

The Grevil F boasts a high-quality carbon frame, with top-tier versions made from T900UD Toray carbon fibre for strength and lightweight performance, while the base model and other variants use T700UD and T600 carbon fibre, respectively. All frames share the same tube shapes and geometry, with differences lying in the type of Toray carbon fibre used.

The bike features a new frame shape, including a flatback downtube and Twin-armed seatstays, which provide more flex, contributing to a high level of comfort and stability for long rides. It incorporates a "Race Geometry+" with a longer top tube and shorter stem, optimised for off-road control and stability over long-duration rides of 5+ hours.

The Grevil F supports wide tires, allowing from 25mm road tires up to 50mm gravel tires on 700c wheels, offering versatility between speed and comfort on varied surfaces. It also comes equipped with a new seatpost combined with dropped seatstays, providing up to 10mm of vertical flex, increasing comfort and control on rough gravel terrain. The ONDA fork is lighter than previous versions and features size-specific rake and improved shock damping for better ride quality.

Designed with endurance racing in mind, the frame includes luggage mountings and integrated storage to support multi-day adventures, a rare feature for a race-oriented gravel bike. The Grevil F comes in five different frame sets in six sizes, with the F9 being the top of the range.

The Grevil F offers multiple build levels, including flagship models equipped with high-end SRAM Red XPLR AXS 1x13 drivetrain and DT Swiss GRC 1400 wheels, while other variants offer SRAM Force XPLR AXS, Shimano GRX Di2 RX825, SHIMANO GRX 820 2x12v, and SRAM Apex AXS setups. Tires typically are Vittoria Terreno 45mm.

The flagship Grevil F9 weighs about 8.01 kg, indicating a lightweight construction suitable for competitive racing. The F7 model with SHIMANO GRX Di2 weighs approximately 8.76kg, and the F5 model weighs approximately 9.00kg.

The F3 model comes in two versions: one with SRAM Apex XPLR AXS and the other with SHIMANO GRX 820 2x12v. The F1 model is priced at €3,500, £3,000, and is not available in the US. The F5 model is priced at €5,600, $5,000, and £5,000. The F7 model (Force XPLR AXS version) is priced at €7,200, $7,250, and is not available in the UK. The F9 model is priced at €11,000, $11,000, and £10,000.

The Grevil F is designed for longer gravel races, ultra-distance events, and bikepacking. It comes in two colorways for the F7 model: Stone Turquoise and Polaris Purple Matt, and the F1 model comes in the colorway Comet Silver Shiny.

In summary, the 2021 Pinarello Grevil F gravel bike combines a race-optimized geometry and lightweight carbon frame with wide tire clearance and enhanced comfort features.
