Is Adam Scott Equipped with a Novel Fairway Wood, Irons, and Putter? Possibility of Victory in US Open With New Golf Equipment?
Revamped Moves at the 2025 US Open by Adam Scott
The 2025 US Open saw a significant shift in the game of Adam Scott, as he displayed a spectacular three under par 67 during the 'moving day', thrusting himself into a tie for second place before the final round. But what truly caught our equipment-focused attention wasn’t his exceptional golf play, it was Scott's golf bag during Saturday's run that stole the show.
Known for his tinkering ways in the professional game, Scott's golf bag has been a hot topic. He's been a relentless experimenter, routinely testing gear and making changes. However, this is at odds with how he's approached things for much of his career, where he remained loyal to the same irons for years. After his partnership with Titleist ended a few seasons back, Scott jumped at the chance to explore other manufacturers, and it seems he hasn’t stopped since!
This week at the US Open, Scott raised the bar even higher. Since his last tournament at Memorial, he's been sporting a full new set of irons, a new putter, and a new 'driving iron', along with a fairway wood setup change made just two weeks prior.
Let's take a closer look at his gear shifts for the US Open.
Starting with his Irons
Adam Scott's world of irons has been a perpetual merry-go-round of different models over the past few years. At the Memorial, he was wielding a custom set of Titleist 681 AS blades. However, at Oakmont this week, Scott switched to a set of Miura AS-1 irons that he has been in and out of for a few seasons now. These clean-looking irons feature Scott's custom 'AS' logo and are a collaborative effort between him and Miura, with Scott even visiting the Miura factory in Japan to oversee production. They have a significant offset, something Scott has always preferred.
Furthermore, there's a new Titleist T250 3-iron in the mix, following a visit to the Titleist's European Performance Centre at Woburn, England. The 3-iron features a Graphite Design Tour AD-VF hybrid 105-X shaft.
The Top End's Rotation
Even the top end of his bag hasn't escaped rotation. A shift in the mini-driver/3-wood area can be observed. His TaylorMade BRNR mini-driver had become a constant in his bag for over a year, but at the Truist Championships a few weeks back, Scott switched this out for a 16.5 ̊ TaylorMade Qi35 3-wood. However, the mini-driver returned at the Memorial, now boasting the new, more adjustable R7 Quad mini-driver from TaylorMade.
Finesse in the Short Stick
Scott decided to switch up the short stick too, opting for a change of color from a blue LAB Mezz.1 Max to a green version. It's unclear whether this is just for aesthetic reasons or if there's a subtle weight alteration to handle Oakmont's putting surfaces.
The Flexible Tinkerer
Generally speaking, it can take weeks or even months for tour reps to get new products into most tour pros' bags. Amidst the precision and precaution that comes with swapping clubs, particularly at the US Open, it's nothing short of remarkable that Scott can make such radical changes, adapt so quickly, and perform as he has so far. If Scott can lift the US Open trophy on Sunday, it will be a victory celebrated by gear nerds and experimenters alike!
