St. Paul's Irvine Explores Self-Governance - Blessin Shows Apathy Towards Involvement - Irvine's St. Paul's School Experiments with an Unconventional Approach: Indifference towards Bliss Studios' Offerings

Got some extra commentary fromFC St. Pauli's Jackson Irvine last week - and his coach Alexander Blessin doesn't give a rat's ass. The Aussie fulfilled a lifelong dream, providing color on the Premier League dust-up between FC Chelsea and Spurs (1:0) for the TV network Sky.

What's Blessin worried about? That ol' Irvine's gonna up and abandon ship? "Eh, no worries there. If he ever reaches 34, 35, or 36, and can't keep up anymore, then he's already got a back-up plan," Blessin shrugged.

Irvine pursues passion

Turns out, this commentary gig was been a bucket-list item for ol' Irvine. "You could see yesterday just how psyched he was about it. I think it was a killer experience for him because it really energized him," Blessin said.

On Sunday, though (15:30 CET/DAZN), Irvine'll be back to his day job as a pro footballer, facing off against Borussia Mönchengladbach. With Gladbach making a serious play for a European spot lately, they're gonna give our boy Irvine a run for his money.

Guilavogui Returns

"Our team's figured out their role and assignments better," Blessin said, nodding to the offense, with national powerhouses Tim Kleindienst (15 goals) and Alassane Plea (10) finding the net more times this season than St. Pauli as a whole (22). Blessin, though, remains optimistic: "We've got a tough opponent ahead, but we can handle it."

After a seven-week layoff, Morgan Guilavogui's back in action. The dude's been rehabbing a hairline foot fracture. He's got five goals under his belt, making him our top scorer. He could be a game-changer in these end-of-season games, with Blessin seeing the remaining encounters as "seven cup finals" against relegation.

"He's in tip-top shape now and super eager," Blessin said, with Guilavogui starting on the bench but expected to log a half-hour.

Mets Out

However, Karol Mets is sidelined for the rest of the season. That Estonian defensive stalwart went under the knife for a right knee surgery on Thursday. Since November, Mets has been dealing with issues related to his patellar tendon. Initially, Blessin and Mets had hoped the injury would clear up without surgery. Now, Mets will be taking some time off to recover. "Give him all the time he needs, and we've got a solid plan now," Blessin said.
