Terry Rozier Under Federal Investigation for Unusual Betting Activity

NBA player Terry Rozier, currently with the Miami Heat, has been under a federal investigation since 2023 regarding suspicious betting activity linked to an NBA game he played for the Charlotte Hornets.

The investigation, conducted by the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of New York, focuses on a bettor in Mississippi who placed nearly $14,000 on unders in the game, all winning bets coinciding with Rozier’s low performance and early exit due to injury.

The probe, which began in 2023, came to light in March 2023 when the NBA was alerted to unusual betting activity related to Rozier's performance in a game between Charlotte and New Orleans. The Wall Street Journal first reported the investigation, which was subsequently confirmed by the NBA on Thursday.

Despite reports in June 2025 that Rozier had been cleared, multiple sources confirm that the investigation continues without charges as of August 2025. Rozier remains available for trade in the NBA offseason amid performance struggles.

The NBA is working to address such issues by supporting restrictions on certain prop bets to reduce manipulation and protect player welfare. Rozier is not the only player under scrutiny; Malik Beasley and Jontay Porter have also been investigated in related probes, with Porter being the only one to face sanctions so far.

It is important to note that Rozier has not been accused of wrongdoing in this matter. The U.S. Attorney's Office did not immediately comment on the investigation.
