Halestorm to Play Biggest Ever UK Show at O2 Arena, Frontwoman Lzzy Hale Embraces Challenges

Halestorm, the American hard rock band that has been making waves in the music industry for nearly 28 years, is set to play their biggest ever UK show later this year at the 20,000-capacity O2 Arena in London. The announcement comes as the band prepares to release their imminent new album, Everest, on August 8.

Lzzy Hale, the frontwoman of Halestorm, expressed her excitement about the upcoming tour, which begins in October and will take the band across the UK and Europe. Despite the band's status as a fully-fledged arena act, Hale doesn't find it frustrating to still have to win over metal fans this far into Halestorm's career. In fact, she considers dealing with potentially hostile fanbases as her favorite thing.

Hale has previous experience dealing with such challenges, such as when Halestorm opened for Megadeth in 2009. She also relished the challenge of opening for Iron Maiden's famously stubborn metal fanbase on their 50th anniversary tour. While Iron Maiden's fans can be tough on openers, Hale found the experience particularly gratifying as the audience showed respect without throwing middle fingers, coins, or shoes, which are typical signs of hostility from metal crowds.

Comparing the two experiences, Hale described opening for Megadeth as a "game" due to their notoriously tough fans who typically don't care about openers. Yet, opening for Iron Maiden this time was notably more positive with no hostile behavior observed, marking a difference from the earlier experience in 2009. Thus, while both tours involved dealing with demanding metal audiences, the Iron Maiden 50th anniversary tour presented a more surprisingly respectful and less antagonistic environment.

Hale, who enjoys opening for a band where the majority of fans are unfamiliar with Halestorm, expressed her excitement about the upcoming tour. Fans can catch Halestorm at the O2 Arena later this year and on their subsequent UK and Europe tour starting in October.
