Irish trainer Aidan O'Brien eyeing unprecedented victory in German Oaks with horse Garden of Eden
Aidan O'Brien Seeks First German Group One Victory with Garden Of Eden
As the racing season reaches its peak, Aidan O'Brien, one of Europe's most successful trainers, is aiming to break new ground in Germany. O'Brien has not yet won a Group One race in the country and is currently targeting the German Group One race Preis der Diana (German Oaks) with his filly Garden Of Eden [1][4].
Garden Of Eden, a regally bred daughter of Sea The Stars and Wild Illusion, has already tasted success, winning the Royal Ascot's Ribblesdale Stakes on her last start [7]. Ryan Moore, who has been a regular collaborator with O'Brien, will travel to Dusseldorf to ride Garden Of Eden in the German Oaks [12].
In the absence of Moore, Wayne Lordan will team up with Aidan O'Brien's other horse, Exactly, in the mile contest [2]. Christophe Soumillon is on board January, another O'Brien horse, in the Deauville feature [5]. January was runner-up to Cinderella's Dream in the Falmouth Stakes at Newmarket on her last start [11].
The Deauville feature, a Group Three race, will see thirteen runners line up, including January and Donnacha O'Brien's Atsila, who was out of the money in the Falmouth [11][6]. Atsila will compete in the Rothschild race, where James Doyle has opted to ride the Royal Ascot winner Crimson Advocate [8].
Meanwhile, in the later Group Three Prix Six Perfections race, Tom Marquand rides Balantina for Donnacha O'Brien. Balantina was third in the Albany at Royal Ascot and steps up to seven furlongs in this race [10].
In another significant race, William Buick travels to ride a regally bred daughter of Sea The Stars and Attraction in the "Diana" race [9]. Coolmore and Godolphin have supplemented their Newmarket Listed winner Spirited Style into the "Diana" race [13].
Danny Tudhope resumes on Fallen Angel in the Rothschild race, the filly he won last year's Irish 1000 Guineas on [14]. With so many talented horses and jockeys competing, the races promise to be exciting and competitive.
