Iran’s airspace shutdown triggers global flight chaos and cancellations

Iran’s sudden closure of its airspace has disrupted global flight routes, forcing major airlines to adjust their schedules. Carriers like IndiGo, Lufthansa Group, flydubai, Turkish Airlines, and Aeroflot are all affected. Air India has issued an urgent advisory as delays and cancellations mount due to the restrictions.

The closure comes amid rising tensions and anti-government protests inside Iran. Authorities shut the airspace temporarily, leaving airlines with little choice but to find alternative paths. Air India has prioritised passenger and crew safety while rerouting flights around the affected region.

Longer journey times and disrupted connections are now inevitable. Some Air India services have been cancelled entirely, as rerouting proves impossible for certain destinations. The airline is urging travellers to verify their flight status before heading to the airport to avoid unnecessary congestion.

Meanwhile, India’s Ministry of External Affairs has advised its citizens to avoid non-essential travel to Iran. Those already in the country are encouraged to leave using available commercial flights while options remain open.

The airspace shutdown continues to create logistical challenges for airlines and passengers alike. Air India remains focused on minimising disruptions, though delays and cancellations are expected to persist. Travellers are advised to stay updated on flight changes as the situation develops.
