In July 2022, Vafa Azarbar, a Kurdish Iranian opposition figure, was arrested by the Iranian regime. Since then, his whereabouts, health status, and future remain largely unknown.

Frederick Cordes, a state parliamentarian in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, has taken on political sponsorship for Azarbar. Cordes has made a series of demands in a letter to the Iranian ambassador to Germany, urging for Azarbar's essential human rights to be upheld.

Among these demands are the right for Azarbar to contact his family, receive medical care, and choose his own legal representation. Cordes has also requested independent observers to be present at Azarbar's upcoming trial.

However, the Iranian regime has made allegations against Azarbar and three others, accusing them of spying for Israel's Mossad with the intent to carry out an attack. These allegations, which have been broadcast on Iranian TV multiple times, have been strongly denied by Kurdish human rights organizations.

Moreover, there is no evidence to support these claims, and concerns have been raised about the manner in which the alleged confessions were obtained. These concerns stem from reports that the confessions were obtained under torture.

In similar cases, countless death sentences have been issued and carried out in Iran. Yet, Cordes has promised to continue protesting until these services are provided or Azarbar is released.

It is important to note that there is currently no publicly available information on the human rights violations against Azarbar specifically, nor evidence of Cordes' involvement in advocating for his rights beyond the demands made in the letter to the Iranian ambassador. If you require detailed or up-to-date information on this topic, further specialized sources or direct inquiries to human rights organizations or political offices might be necessary.
