Thousands are on the move. As Israeli military strikes escalate, many Iranians are abandoning their homeland, seeking solace in foreign lands. Germany, among other countries, could see an influx of Iranian refugees in the coming weeks, surpassing previous numbers.

However, the Social Democratic Party (SPD) is expressing concerns about potential exploitation by the Mullah regime in Tehran. "Given the influx of refugees seeking refuge in Germany, we must remain vigilant about securing our own safety, particularly with male refugees," Sebastian Fiedler, the SPD's interior policy spokesman in the Bundestag, warns in Stern. "We must not become unwitting accomplices in allowing the Iranian regime, namely the Revolutionary Guards, to smuggle in their agents here under the guise of seeking refuge."

Fiedler also criticized the Greens' call for an immediate ban on deportations for Iranian refugees within Germany. "In the last year, only 14 people were deported from Germany to Iran; in the first quarter of this year, there were five," Fiedler explains. "Cases are thoroughly reviewed for potential threats such as death or torture." He suspects that the current political climate makes it challenging to deport Iranians.

Greens Demand Immediate Deportation Ban Relaxed

Filiz Polat, the Green Party's parliamentary business manager, advocated for an "immediate nationwide ban on deportations to Iran." "People who have sought asylum with us must be protected from death or persecution and should not be returned to a dictatorship and war zone," Polat asserted to taz.

[Enrichment Insight]While there is no recent evidence confirming Sebastian Fiedler's claims about Iranian regime infiltration of refugees in Germany, tensions between Israel and Iran remain high. Most discussions revolve around military conflicts and diplomatic tensions rather than covert operations involving refugees in Europe. Public information and investigative findings support the claim that the current focus remains on Israel-Iran military developments rather than covert activities concerning refugees in Europe.

  • The SPD is concerned about the potential infiltration of the Mullah regime in Tehran among the growing Iranian refugee population seeking asylum in Germany, especially among male refugees.
  • Sebastian Fiedler, the SPD's interior policy spokesman in the Bundestag, warns against becoming unwitting accomplices in allowing the Iranian regime to smuggle in their agents under the guise of refugee status.
  • Fiedler also criticizes the Green Party's call for an immediate ban on deportations for Iranian refugees within Germany, arguing that the current political climate makes it challenging to deport Iranians amidst growing concerns about covert operations.
