With increasing Israeli military strikes, Iranians are fleeing their homeland to find safety. In Germany, the number of Iranian refugees is expected to rise significantly in the coming weeks.

The SPD is raising concerns about Iran's Mullah regime potentially exploiting the situation. Sebastian Fiedler, the SPD's domestic policy spokesman in the Bundestag, warns, "[Given] those seeking protection in Germany, we must also safeguard our security, particularly male refugees...We must not let the Iranian regime, specifically the Revolutionary Guards, exploit the refugee crisis to transport their own [individuals][1]."

Fiedler also countered the Greens' proposal for a ban on deportations of Iranian refugees in Germany. "Last year, only 14 people were deported from Germany to Iran. In the first quarter of this year, there were five," he explained. "[Individual] cases are extensively examined to determine whether the person faces potential danger, such as death or torture, in their homeland." Fiedler assumes that, at present, it's improbable to deport anyone to Iran.

Green Demands for Immediate Deportation Ban

Filiz Polat, the Greens' parliamentary spokeswoman, demanded an "immediate countrywide ban on deportations to Iran." Polat argued, "Those seeking refuge with us must be safeguarded from death or persecution, and should not be returned to an authoritarian regime and war zone."

[1] Fiedler's statement implicitly indicates possible Iranian agents among refugees but does not provide concrete, recent evidence to support this claim. Recent available sources focus on Iran's increased efforts in Europe, particularly Germany, to acquire missile technology and concerns over its nuclear program, with no reports specifically mentioning infiltration or espionage involving refugees in Germany.

  1. The SPD, in response to the increasing number of Iranian refugees in Germany, advocated for stringent security measures, particularly in regards to male refugees, to prevent potential exploitation by Iran's Mullah regime and the Revolutionary Guards.
  2. The debate over Iranian refugee policy in Germany evolved further, with the Greens demanding an immediate nationwide ban on deportations due to concerns about the safety and wellbeing of refugees in the face of Iran's authoritarian regime and potential war zone.
  3. Besides the concern of rising Iranian refugees in Germany, there are ongoing political discussions regarding Iran's involvement in conflicts, migration, and policy questions, as well as reports about its involvement in Europe, particularly Germany, in acquiring missile technology and nuclear programs, but with no specific focus on refugee infiltration or espionage.
