Chaotic Scene as PBKS vs DC IPL Match is Abruptly Stopped and Stadium Evacuated
"IPL Match Abruptly Cancelled Amidst Chaos: Cheerleader Describes Fear during Bomb Threat in Dharmshala"
The Indian Premier League (IPL) match between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Delhi Capitals (DC) in Dharamshala was abruptly called off, causing a wave of panic and chaos that was captured in a viral video by an IPL cheerleader.
On Thursday, suspected attacks from Pakistan hit multiple parts of India. The sudden cancellation of the IPL match was announced after spectators in the stadium were informed about the unforeseen situation. Witnessing the chaos unfold, one of the cheerleaders recorded a video, describing the terrifying scene.
"The whole stadium emptied out in the middle of the game. Everyone was screaming that bombs were coming. It was incredibly scary. I think the IPL people will take care of us. It was an utterly terrifying experience. I don't know why I'm not crying, I think I'm just in shock," she said in the video.
Stadium staff and security personnel quickly moved the spectators, players, and match officials out of the area as the lights went out. The IPL later confirmed on their official X (formerly Twitter) account that the match had been canceled.
As a safety measure, complete blackouts were imposed in several areas due to the heightened security alert. These areas included Bikaner, Jalandhar, Kishtwar, Akhnoor, Samba, Jammu, and Amritsar.
Explosions and Interceptions
Defense sources reported that Pakistan orchestrated eight missile attacks on regions such as Satwari, Samba, RS Pura, and Arnia. Fortunately, all missiles were successfully intercepted by India's air defense systems. Reports also stated that Indian forces shot down Pakistani drones over Udhampur in Jammu and Kashmir and near Jaisalmer in Rajasthan, leading to bright flashes in the sky during the interceptions.
Since the Pahalgam terror attack that resulted in 26 casualties, the Indian government had already launched Operation Sindoor, involving precision strikes on terrorist bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK). India has warned that any attack on its military bases will be met with a strong and appropriate response.
This incident marked the first time in the history of the IPL that a match had to be stopped and the stadium evacuated due to security concerns. The emotional video of the cheerleader emphasized the uncertainty and fear that surrounded the event. Though the match ultimately did not take place, the IPL performs continuous checks on security measures at all venues to ensure the safety of everyone involved.
