IPL 2025: Specific Train for Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals Squad Members from Dharamshala due to Upsurge in Border Hostilities

In an unexpected move, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has organized a train to ferry Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Delhi Capitals (DC) players and their crew after Thursday's IPL 2025 match in Dharamshala was abruptly called off. This decision came in wake of the dire situation unfolding in Himachal Pradesh and the logistical nightmares triggered by the sudden cancellation.

According to ANI, the BCCI's decision was a response to the prevailing circumstances in Himachal Pradesh and the challenges that arose with the abrupt halting of the IPL 2025 showdown between the two teams. Approximately 300 individuals, including players, staff, and broadcasters, will embark on this special train ride, ensuring a secure and hassle-free commute.

The CPRO of Northern Railways endorsed this development. "A Vande Bharat train to chauffeur IPL teams of Punjab & Delhi will run tomorrow from Pathankot – Delhi. The train's timing and routes have been kept under wraps due to protective reasons," said the CPRO, Northern Railways in a statement.

It's worth mentioning that Dharamsala's sole airport and those in Kangra and Chandigarh are currently non-operational as part of preventive measures to deter potential Pakistani assaults.

A Hastily interrupted Match

Notably, Thursday's IPL 2025 match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala was terminated mid-game due to security alerts in nearby cities like Jammu and Pathankot, amid the rising tensions on the India-Pakistan border.

Following a successful toss and the decision to bat first, Punjab Kings were 122/1 in just 10.1 overs when the match was abruptly stopped. Prabhsimran Singh, with his half-century off 28 balls, and Priyansh Arya, who made 70 off 34 balls before falling to pacer T Natarajan during the interruption, were the team's leading scorers.

As the match was cut short, the fate of IPL 2025 hangs in the balance. Word has it that the BCCI is holding discussions with a focus on security concerns raised by the participating international players.
