IOM3's M3P3 Event: Driving Sustainable Innovation in Materials, Minerals, and Mining
The Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (IOM3) is set to host a significant event, Materials, Minerals and Mining for People, Places, Planet (M3P3), on 11-12 November 2025 at Millennium Point, Birmingham. The event is open to all, with one-day and two-day passes available, offering delegates the chance to connect, share ideas, and explore sector developments.
M3P3 aims to explore sustainable solutions and responsible materials use through community connection and collaboration, as stated by Dr Colin Church, CEnv FIMMM, CEO of IOM3. The event will feature a dynamic programme of debate, insight, and collaboration, uniting over 22 technical communities focused on the future of materials and sustainable innovation.
Key highlights include four Changemakers in Conversation plenaries and twelve Topical Knowledge Exchange Sessions. The Circular Economy plenary, part of the Changemakers series, will focus on rethinking resource use and eliminating waste. Speakers at this plenary, including Mary Creagh CBE MP and Professor Mark Miodownik MBE FREng, will discuss the transition to a regenerative, low-carbon future. Other keynote speakers such as Ed Conway, Sarah Mukherjee MBE, and David Knowles FREng will address materials innovation, industrial strategy, and environmental responsibility. Additionally, IOM3 Training Academy taster workshops and a dedicated student and early careers programme will support the next generation of materials professionals. Satellite conferences will delve into timber, bio-based polymers, and materials for net-zero fission and fusion technologies.
M3P3, hosted by IOM3, promises to be a comprehensive and forward-thinking event, bringing together experts and enthusiasts to discuss and drive sustainable innovation in materials, minerals, and mining.
