Ex-Wife Alice Evans Threatened Him With Violence - Ioan Gruffudd fights to extend restraining order against ex-wife Alice Evans in bitter custody war
Actor Ioan Gruffudd is seeking to extend a restraining order against his ex-wife, Alice Evans, in a high-profile legal battle. The dispute follows years of bitter public accusations, failed mediation, and ongoing conflicts over child support and custody. A nine-day trial in Los Angeles will now decide whether the order remains in place.
The couple's divorce was finalised in 2023, but tensions have escalated since Evans first accused Gruffudd of infidelity and abandonment on social media in 2020. Her posts, which included claims about his personal conduct, triggered widespread media scrutiny and damaged his public image. Gruffudd now alleges that Evans has waged a years-long smear campaign, including false accusations of abuse and threats to 'destroy' him 'Amber Heard-style' during a custody handover.
Evans has also faced criticism for her own online behaviour. Court documents claim she publicly disclosed Wallace's multiple sclerosis diagnosis and labelled Gruffudd a 'child abuser, paedophile, and drug addict' in social media posts. She denies the allegations and opposes the restraining order's extension.
Finances remain another major point of contention. Gruffudd currently pays $4,500 a month in child support, but Evans demands more, while he pushes to terminate payments entirely. A final mediation attempt on 17 February collapsed without resolution, leaving the court to intervene.
Gruffudd has since remarried and now shares a daughter with his current wife, Bianca Wallace. The ongoing legal fight, however, continues to overshadow his personal and professional life.
The trial will determine whether the restraining order against Evans is extended. If granted, it would restrict her from further public statements or contact with Gruffudd. The outcome may also influence the unresolved disputes over child support and custody arrangements.
