Invitations extended to PNP and AIP candidates by Newfoundland and Labrador for participation

In a recent move to bolster its workforce, the Newfoundland and Labrador Office of Immigration and Multiculturalism (OIM) has issued 359 invitations to apply (ITAs) for provincial immigration. These invitations were indeed issued through both the Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program (NLPNP) and the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP).

The in-demand Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector jobs for engineers and developers include Software Developer, Biomedical Engineer, UI/UX Developer, Electrical Engineer, AI Developer, Mechanical Engineer, Python Developer, Web Developer, .NET Developer, and Infrastructure Engineer. For technical specialists, the OIM is seeking candidates in areas such as Security Specialist, Cloud Specialist, Bioinformatician, Computer Network Support, Research Associate, Data Analytics, Offshore Technician, ROV Operator, Ocean Mapping Specialist, and Technical Writer.

Candidates qualified through the NLPNP or the Atlantic Immigration Program before or after July 10, 2021, are eligible if they are skilled workers, international graduates, or certain intermediate-skilled workers meeting specific criteria. High-demand jobs in the province include healthcare professionals, trades workers, IT specialists, and skilled business and finance roles.

To be considered for an ITA, candidates need to have a job or job offer in Newfoundland and Labrador and an employer invitation code (if necessary). It's essential to note that foreign nationals who have valid work authorization in Canada do not require an employer invitation code for the NLPNP, but it is required for candidates who need job vacancy assessments and all AIP candidates.

Expressions of interest (EOIs) that do not declare employment, or an employment offer, and/or those that do not have an employer invitation code (if needed) are not eligible to receive an ITA to immigrate to Newfoundland and Labrador. Candidates should pay close attention to the 'main duties' and 'description' section for each NOC entry to better understand which NOC code and title is appropriate to their job or professional experience.

NOC codes and titles are primarily categorized by duties, so candidates may meet the definition of a position without holding the job title. Candidates should contact the OIM directly to obtain the National Occupation Classification (NOC) code and title corresponding to their selected job.

The OIM has designated several in-demand jobs for immigration consideration under the NLPNP and the AIP. In addition to the ICT sector, the province is also focusing on the health care sector, with jobs such as Physician, Nurse Practitioner, Licensed Practical Nurse, Personal Care Attendant, Clinical Psychologist, Medical Physicist, Radiation Therapist, Dosimetrist, and more in high demand.

In the aquaculture sector, the OIM is seeking candidates for jobs such as Captain (FM4 certification required), Farming and Feeding Manager, Facility Technician, Assistant Manager, Cage Site Technician, and Site Manager (with water quality expertise), among others.

Candidates can assess their eligibility for enhanced PNP streams by visiting the dedicated webpage. More information on finding your NOC code can be found on the dedicated webpage, and more information on the NLPNP can be found on its dedicated webpage. It's crucial for candidates to understand that their EOI profile must be aligned with 'labour market needs and ongoing interests of the province' to be considered for an ITA.
