Invictus Games overhaul granted by King, signaling imminent changes for Prince Harry's event
The Invictus Games, a unique sporting event founded by Prince Harry in 2014 to support and empower injured or sick veterans, is gearing up for its next edition in 2027, with Birmingham set to host the games. Prince Harry is scheduled to return to the UK for this event, marking a significant moment for the royal family.
As for the future, the Invictus Games Governing Body is currently reviewing bids from San Diego (USA), Birmingham (UK), and a bid from Nigeria to select the nominees for the Short List later this year. San Diego is actively bidding to be the second American city to host the Games, following Orlando in 2016. Birmingham is also preparing to welcome the Invictus Games community, while Nigeria's bid reflects growing international interest.
The Invictus Games aims to provide support and offer a platform for veterans to feel a sense of self through the games. The Games have not made any official announcement about the 2029 event yet, but the official social media page has shared a list of cities where the next games are anticipated to take place.
Interestingly, King Charles was seen at the Mey Highland Games in Caithness this year, which supports Harry's mission and features an Invictus-style competition. The King's attendance at the games indicates a possible greenlight for his personal attendance at the Invictus Games in 2029.
Meanwhile, there is no official news about King Charles or any other royal members attending the 2027 Invictus Games. However, it is reported that the monarch is as eager to reconcile with Prince Harry as Harry is. Last month, Harry and Charles's top aides had a meeting in London for a summit, which could potentially pave the way for a royal appearance at the games.
Prince Harry has reportedly approved the royal guest list and the wordings of the invites for the 2027 Invictus Games. The Games, which aim to support ex-army veterans who were injured or sick during their service, have not made any official announcement about the 2029 event yet, but the anticipation is building.
The Invictus Games, with its powerful message of resilience and camaraderie, continues to inspire and unite people around the world. As we look forward to the 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham and the potential 2029 event, the spirit of the Games lives on, reminding us of the strength and determination of our veterans.
